All you ever wanted to know about the Logic control & EQulizers in walkmans
Hello everyone,
I Have always been fascinated with Equalizers, and the Feather touch feature especially Aiwa's HS-G08 my first Walkman. In this article, I will talk about EQualizers and IQ - Logic control.
There are two necessities in life: Food and Music. People can't live without them. We all like to eat; some like simple food while others fancy Gourmet food, But undoubtedly most of us can't eat the food if it is plain and simple, i.e. the natural way. Hence, we all like to season our food. We add a dash of salt here, a pinch of pepper there, for the most enjoyable moment.
Hi-Fidelity is very similar to gourmet food. One of the factors of Hi-Fi sound is its clarity, but clarity alone is not enough. We also need the heart of sound – the bass! Without the bass, the music will sound flat with no presence, no drama, and no excitement. With the proper bass, the music will come alive and you will feel its presence. Think of it as having a nice quiet dinner with an excellent bottle of wine or a good beer.
With a Good Hi-Fidelity system, you will get the perfect combination of heart and soul. For most people, when you season your food you will add some salt (the Highs), others like to add pepper (the Bass). In most Hi-Fi systems you will find a dial for the Highs - "Treble" and a dial for the Lows - "Bass". But some people require more spices in their food, i.e. their music. Hence, they will use a Graphic Equalizer.

The World of Personal Stereo Hi-End Heads
Good Ferrite heads used to last a very long time, provided that you use high-quality tapes. Low quality ferric oxide tapes are one of the most likely types to do damage. Ferrite is high permeability a ceramic material, not like an alloy, not unlike most other head materials.

Greetings everyone :-)
I was a bit confused with the way AIWA presented their Heads. Many time I saw different definitions like; HX Head, Amorphous Head, Narrow Gap Head etc. Very confusing, so I have decided to solve this tech riddle and to share the results with anyone who is interested.
Tape heads are the main sound element in every tape deck or portable stereo. The head has to have the capability of reproducing a wide range of frequency response in the sound spectrum. Then it is up to the amplifier to translate and reproduce the quality of the sound. A high-quality head needs to be durable enough to last a long lifespan of use.

AKAI had their own special version of Ferrite heads which they called glass and crystal Ferrite. The housing of these heads was made out of glass, but they had Ferrite cores laminated into them.

IS IT All in your Headphones?
Greetings to all,
Many times I have read about walkman enthusiast who complains about high-quality players which sound poor, or are not what they expected. So I have decided to try to combine some tips and advice for those members who are not familiar with the world of Hi-Fi and walkmans or personal stereos, here goes:
So, when was the last time you were excited by a piece of music? Whether it was at a concert hall, a theater or your home system, surely the reason for that was the Hi-Fi source that the music was played on. Nothing can be more exciting than a clean and accurate frequency response of a good hi-fi system. We are not just satisfied with hearing music; we want to experience it too. The ability to experience pleasure from listening to music appears to be linked with the quality of reproduction. This, in turn, is linked with the ability to hear more of the music in greater detail. It is this pursuit of excellence that drives the quest for Hi-Fi, to make the experience of music exhilarating!

Is it all in your headphones? - Part two
CROSSFEED
Since the release of the Walkman in 1979, modern headphones have been particularly widely sold and used for listening to stereo recordings, there is subjective debate regarding the nature of their reproduction of stereo sound. Stereo recordings represent the position of horizontal depth cues via volume and phase differences of the sound in question between the two channels (known as stereo separation). When the sounds from two speakers mix, they create the phase difference the brain uses to locate direction. (See illustrations)

Great web page; thank you for showing it and well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much and Enjoy!
DeleteI bought a seq-50 in the 1980s; it was expensive. My one was silver. The sound quality was good, but it used up AA batteries quickly.
ReplyDeleteI had te Panasonic RQ-SA78. It was '87 model, however I bought it in '91. Its sound was outstanding in my opinion. I loved it. I still have it in the bottom of a drawer somewhere.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the RQ-SA78 was a budget player but sounded great, too bad he was too bulky. :-(
DeleteThanks for visiting.
