We at Kenwood adopted the auto-reverse mechanism which reverses and replays the other side continuously without the need of touching it at all. Kenwood enriches this auto-reverse mechanism with the ability to freely select the reverse operation mode

Also, if the mood changes you can change it even during playback, it also has an auto-reverse switch that can switch from side A playback to side B playback, or from side B playback to side A playback (The CP-R3 auto-reverse mechanism works only during playback).

Few words about the CP-R3

The Kenwood CP-R3 is an OEM Recorder that was made by Toshiba and was based on model KT-RS1 Type. However, it is a standalone and different model version that was made to order by Kenwood's concept. Please note that the model number structure of the CP-R3 followed by KT-RS1 is in chronological order after the KT-VS2. The only difference from Toshiba's KT-RS1 is that the CP-R3 lacks the setup for the tuner pack so it is just a recorder without the tuner possibility.

One surprising detail considering it is Kenwood's top-of-the-line unit is its price tag: ¥29,800. According to Kenwood's catalog, it is cheaper than his smaller brother the CP-G5 Player who has a tuner and EQ features and costs: ¥36,800 a difference of ¥7000 (roughly $60). In comparison to other brands, the difference between a recorder model to a tuner model is about ¥4,000 ($30) on average. for example, Aiwa's HS-J9 36,800 and R9 ¥32,800.

The design of the CP-R3 is quite appealing considering Toshiba's ugly model's design. It is very comfortable to use when you're holding it in your palm but when you're using the belt hanger, it is very inconvenient to operate the transport buttons.

The CP-R3 is quite a rare and scarce walkman (not many were sold, hence, rarely found today) maybe because it has a plastic build and plastic feels to it, but it has a solid metal construction inside which makes it a bit bulky and heavy (300g), so even though it looks cheap, it has top features that compensate for that. it also has a crisp and rich sound that is worth listening to when you're on the move...

My total rating for this recorder is 7.8 out of 10
